After earning a bachelors degree in chemistry and mathematics and a masters degree in management and organizational behavior and working for years in jobs I didn’t totally enjoy, I had an epiphany at the age of 40.

I was talking with my husband about my unhappiness in my career at that time. He asked, “What would you really like to do?” I immediately responded, “I would love to be an artist!” He said, “If not now, then when?” WOW!! A light bulb went off in my head and I knew that was what I must do. I left my job, began taking art classes and as they say, the rest is history.

By now, almost 18 years later, I can hardly remember what those other unsatisfactory jobs were like. I have had so many wonderful art teachers, artist friends, successful gallery relationships and happy customers that I feel truly blessed to be able to wake up every day and either paint or work on my art business. I feel privileged that my paintings are in public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe.

My training has been at the hands of some of the best painters in the country and I have traveled coast to coast to study with the best. I have been especially influenced by two great female artists – Virginia Cobb from Santa Fe, NM and Patt Odom from Ocean Springs, MS.

As long as I live I will continue to do what I love.

I AM AN ARTIST and that is the best career for me.

Motivation and Feelings 

 I “feel” the art that I make and most of the time I paint the subject or type of art that I am interested in at the moment.

Over the years of my art career I have created several series of paintings of flowers, textured landscapes, animals, non-objective pieces with bold colors and shapes, and some figurative work as well.

 Whatever my subject, I know that when I finish a painting it will be an emotionally felt painting and that I will most likely feel totally drained. It is as if I have the art inside me and i have to work very hard sometimes to get it from my heart, to my head, and out my fingers to the canvas.
